Banana Chocolate bread...with nutella of course

This recipe is so simple and extremely delicious! It's not something that will take you 45 hours to make or require a trip to some exotic location to retrieve all sorts of weird ingredients either...

What went in:
  • 2-3 large old-ish bananas…mushed.
  • 280g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 125g melted butter
  • 280g brown sugar...I used dark brown
  • 2 medium free range eggs
  • 2 cadbury bars chopped

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.

Grease up your intended tin. I used one that could only be described as a little too small for all the mixture, so perhaps a 9x5 inch would be better. You'll see why in a minute…

Mix the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt in a large mixing bowl.

In a different bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Add the whisked eggs, mushed bananas and some of the chocolatey goodness chunks until it's all blended and looking a little unappetising.

Mix the dry ingredients with the wet. Ensure all the flour is mixed in.

Pour the mixture into your chosen tin and sprinkle some chocolate chunks on top.

Baking can differ depending on how good your oven is. This one took 60 minutes for me. Stabbing a knife through it after 25 minutes should give you a good idea of how long it'll take. When the knife comes out clean, it's baked.


Unappetising stage, obviously.

Oh, and when it piles over the top and starts to bake UPWARDS, your tin is too small...

Let it cool, whack some nutella, nuts and more chocolate chunks on top and then you're good to go. Simple!
